Rainbow Sherbet

Our biggest and only worries that summer: bumblebees hovering over mum’s azaleas, too close to our chairs; lawnmowers tossing shredded grass through the fence and onto the concrete; a fat beetle, belly-up, in the cool blue water; kicking too hard in the deep end and stubbing toes; floaties tugging at the pool vacuum named Oscar. Mum would bring out ice cream for lunch, cones held upright in styrofoam cups. I relished flavors with globs of chocolate. Lindsey, wanting to be bigger and older and cooler than all of us, and succeeding, wanted a scoop of mocha chip with jimmies. Michael’s choice, I remember most, the same every time, pinks and melons dripping down his fingers and onto the pavement in kaleidoscopic drabs and smearing his teddy bear’s gray fur. I’d purse my lips in frustration at the smears of lost ice cream, not knowing any better, wondering why he couldn’t relish it more carefully. I'd splash waves from the shallow end to wash his clumsiness away and into the lawn. Later, on the diving board, stray dots of pink bubbled in the sun.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
