Peachy Keen

It’s a running joke between me and Jax that I married him for his cooking and he married me for my family’s peach farm. There’s a little truth to both assertions. I also joke that Jax has a fatal flaw: great as he is in the kitchen, the man absolutely hates baking. When we’re up to our eyeballs in peaches every summer, he’ll spend the whole day canning rather than break out a pie plate. Good for the waistline, less so for the soul.

But after Granny May died and mom scanned her recipes for us, Jax surprised me with Granny’s cobbler one night. Uncle Charlie’d sent us a box of what he labels as “White Mystery” peaches—clones from some of the first trees Papa Heck planted in the ‘40s—so it was Granny’s recipe to a tee. When I sunk a fork into it and he asked what I thought, all I could do was cry and drool and laugh. How do you describe your grandma’s peach cobbler? The color’s peach, the taste is peach, and the memory is everything that ever mattered.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
