Mint

When an ice cream cone falls to the pavement, there is a certain collective gasp. At least, there is in the mind of the ice cream cone. Whether from a clumsy child’s hand or knocked free from a distracted adult’s grasp, the ice cream tumbles, and for one shining moment, the scoop is free. Before it collects dust and hair, and melts into a sticky puddle of colored cream and debris.

And it is mourned.

And then it is forgotten or mopped up.

Today’s number was mint: a lush, round scoop in attractive green, studded with dark chocolate. Dipped waffle cone swaddled in a paper napkin. Six seventy-five. The kind of ice cream cone ordered by a person who wants to make an impression.

He sat across from his date (raspberry chocolate chunk in a responsible cup) at the candy striped tables outside. Their conversation must have been riveting: I saw the melting green trail over his hand. And then it happened.

A seagull—who had been watching from the next roof for five minutes—made a dive for the cone and missed. But the ice cream fell and was quickly gobbled up, leaving nothing but a pale green puddle.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
