You know what’s weird? My husband can’t taste tea. I’ll be sipping on a steaming mug of English Breakfast, savoring the malty flavors, while my husband tastes only hot water. You know what he does love? Matcha. What to me tastes earthy and grassy to him has actual flavor. Punchy, bold, bitter flavor. We discovered his love of matcha on a trip to Japan. Neither of us can remember the exact details anymore, just that we had proper matcha for the first time and he loved it. I remember being struck by the bright green color, the strong flavor, and foamy texture. I recall going to the Nakajima Tea House for a tea ceremony. The structure floats atop a pond at the Hama-rikyu Gardens, creating an oasis in the middle of busy, bustling Tokyo. If I close my eyes, I go back to that afternoon sipping on a hot cup of matcha, nibbling a too-beautiful-to-eat wagashi sweet, and looking out at the enormity of Tokyo just on the other side of the park. It’s funny which moments we hold on to, which details we remember. I may not love matcha, but I cherish these memories and savor them before they fade.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.
I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.
Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
