Ivy

Ted had always wanted “new.” When they moved in together, he found a tall and angular building for a good price, in a gray part of town that smelled of fresh hot tar when they threw open the windows. Marble countertops. Shiny appliances. “The best of everything” was smattered in white paint, with drips on the laminate that Eva would spot while vacuuming, then scratch off with a thumbnail.  Then she became what was old and scrubbed away. In hindsight, she should have chosen elsewhere: a place with storied hardwoods, a window ledge for a cat to perch on. A building covered in ivy. She’d read that the vines took 20 years to reach a roof—tender hands guiding them upward day to day, watching carefully through passing rains and seasons and holidays. Now, at the base of her cottage, handed down from a quiet aunt, young leaves tilted hopeful towards the sky like felted arrows. She would be their guardian, weaving twine and trellis towards the roof. Ivy, glowing soft and lush in the shade, was the best of everything.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
