Druid

As always, the forest called Mavis early in the morning. Her feet kept time with the dawn chorus and soon, she had left her ivy-laced hut far behind. Dew glazed the grass, soaking her leggings and the toes of her boots as she walked.

She breathed deep. The cool air was scented with last night’s rain, crushed leaves, and the first, eager blooms. It was still too soon to call it spring: the trees had only begun to grow their canopy of lush greens, frosted with flower. Nights were still cold enough that Mavis regretted not chopping enough wood for the fire. But there were new herbs about for poultices and stew.

Mavis’s knife flashed once, twice, and her basket began to fill with ramson, nettle, and rampant chickweed.

Her eyes lit on a cluster of thick, white Dryad’s Saddle, bracketed against a rotting trunk. Even better luck: Poplar Fieldcaps bubbled around her feet and Shaggy Inkcaps were early, too. Bunches of mushrooms bursting through the moss-strewn forest floor. Her mind on mushrooms fried in butter with wild garlic, Mavis fell to greedily gathering the bounty. She didn’t notice when her heel broke the fairy ring.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
