Lemon Chiffon

Carly watches the woman walking ahead of her on the sidewalk. Beige slacks, linen tank, her arms toned but slim, and her deep yellow scarf playing with the wind, carefree, effervescent, careless. “I would like to be light like lemon chiffon,” Carly thinks, at once a motto and a yearning, something intrusive. Something deeper.

The woman’s walk is a buoyant flounce. As she disappears around a corner, Carly begins to steal sideways glances at the windows, and sees only an average woman with an unremarkable gait. She tries a skip and feels ridiculous.

Once she arrives at the grocery store, she buys only what she believes the Lemon Chiffon Woman would buy – granola (cookie dough), almonds (chocolate-covered), Nutella, and a single, shiny, aggressively yellow lemon. At home, she appraises her belongings and puts anything the woman wouldn’t approve of in a box to donate. She signs up for yoga. She gets a toy poodle, Macaron, walks her daily down the same sidewalk and watches her flounce.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
