French Lavender

A Ferris wheel stood guard by the river, framing blanched and cloudless sky. Free of last night’s carnival-goers, it looked like a toy off its track, ready to circle Avignon atop its ancient walls in a giddy cartwheel. We passed through the west gate and into dreamscape, a still-sleeping city soaked in early morning light. We turned a corner, into a square framed by darkened restaurants and a silent merry-go-round. Our sandals clicked and clacked over time-softened tiles. Under a canopy of deep green umbrellas shielding dew-damp tables, our guide tapped a toe on Roman mosaics as a local unshuttered a street organ. A black cat circled his ankles, unfazed by the instrument’s honks and whiny purrs. One street over, a gelato shop, open preposterously early, served me a preposterous breakfast. Mum wrinkled her nose—Lavender ice cream? I paddled it into my mouth with a tiny bamboo spoon: herbal, not floral, like a soft dance of sage and vanilla. I couldn’t convince mum that it tasted nothing like the soaps and spritzes in the purpled storefronts. I couldn’t be convinced it wasn’t all a dream.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
