Tulip Field

At the gardens, Anna promptly forgot the morning’s troubles: pebbles in a shoe; coffee on her coat. Shuffled along with the crowd, she stared, transfixed by the tulips—impossibly long rows, so far from those in Oma’s postcards, neatly taped to the ice box. Keukenhof’s colors raced towards the sun, each bloom pushing up and waving in greeting, we’re here, it’s spring, we’re here! In the fields, Anna folded mittened hands over the curve of her cane. She blinked against the sun and color—beaming yellows, candied reds, pinks slipping into plums and purples. Time, it seemed, was a looping bicycle lane, turning her away from the gardens and ill-gotten mornings, back to her favorite red wellies stomping in puddles towards that brick cottage, where Oma knelt with a sack of ruddy bulbs. Anna pictured her grandmother’s hands, dipping into cold earth, caked with the promise of spring. She took a deep breath, heavy with the perfume of dewy petals, and she was warm.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
