Secret Garden

The worn brass key turned heavy in the low gate’s lock, but clicked open with surprisingly little resistance, pulling from patient, wizened brick with the slightest chirp of rust. The cottage, with its low windows and white paint, seemed sleepy with the coming twilight, a gentle smile after a long drive. Eva sighed and heaved her overstuffed suitcase one more time up the stone walk. Almost there. Even in the dwindling light, the garden glowed and wiggled, the bee balm and coral bells bright and warm. She chose this rental for the garden, the kind that took decades of gentle, tidy care and attention. Now, at the front door, the glass panels betraying a dark and quiet kitchen, Eva felt her lip wobble. Another deep breath. Morning would arrive and she would emerge with her borrowed teacup. She would come to the garden in her pajamas and boots, kneel to touch the living gold of yarrow and black-eyed susans, and this trip would feel more like a choice. Now, the light was the color of catmint and cornflowers. And she was free.

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
