Blossoming Peach

When I first met Heck, in that gauzy half-drunk outpouring of all our hopes and dreams, he said he wanted seven kids and a peach orchard. I almost walked out right then and there—a beagle and a begonia was about all I was ready to deal with. There was something about that man, though. He was two weeks back from Normandy and still hobbling around on crutches, but he radiated joy like he’d just found El Dorado. So here I am, ten years later, hollering at the kids to leave the peaches alone.

I drew the line at three kids, but I can’t get enough of those peaches, especially this time of year. The late trees are still in flower, bundled up in pink with little green fruits poking through the mix, while the early fruits look good enough to eat, all yellow-robed with their shoulders blushing in the sun. Heck pointed out that I’ve done the whole house up with spring colors from the orchard, and I was annoyed to realize he was right. But how could I walk through that riot of blooming life every day and not carry some of it indoors with me?

Please note that, due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins of yarn will be exactly alike. I recommend alternating skeins every few rows for projects using multiple skeins of the same colorway. If you order multiple skeins of the same colorway, I will do my best to select skeins that are the closest match.

I dye each skein with professional acid dyes and leave the yarn in the dye bath until the dye has exhausted before rinsing and soaking in wool wash. Minor color bleeding may occur on the first wash, especially with extremely dark colors.

Although I do my best to accurately represent each colorway in product photos, please note that the colors may vary depending on monitor and/or device settings.
